For us, the answer was simple: brew a wheatwine.
Tritordeum is a hybrid crop that has been specially developed by scientists in Spain. This unique malt combines durum wheat and wild barley for a distinctive nutty and biscuity flavour profile.
The second malt is a new variety of Crystal Wheat, that promises a toasty nut base and mild toffee notes.
The combination of these two malts makes for a complex and smooth beer that is perfect for savouring. Of course we couldn’t resist putting this into some rum barrels from Husk Distillery - it is a Rare Breed after all!
This beer is an absolute treat. The complex esters synonymous with the style deliver pops of bubblegum and pear drops. The fruity, confectionery notes continue through the front palate, with bright candied ginger characters, before a lightly-spiced, tannic finish.
